My first bridal shower was this past Saturday night, and it was p-e-r-f-e-c-t. Let me share with you ten reasons why it was so amazing.
#1: The baked goods were droolworthy.
My beautiful bridesmaid Hillary baked her buns off (WHOA alliteration) and made espresso cupcakes (per my request!), cactus and flower sugar cookies, and oreo truffle cake pops. OMG could this presentation be any more precious???
#2: The decorations were beautiful!
Anita and Robert worked really hard to make the details special, and I loved the yellow & white theme they chose, right down to the lemonade and funky juice!
#3: My maid of honor was there!
I miss her a lot when she's away at school in Pennsylvania. I need her to move back home immediately. It was really special that she was able to be at the shower. Also, I love taking photos of her eating. I don't know why. It's just a thing.
#4: Robert & Adam's house looked AMAZING.
Believe it or not, Robert & Adam had JUST moved into their house the day before the shower. They spent the entire day of the shower hanging art, cleaning and getting everything together. Can you believe how polished it looks the DAY AFTER moving day??? I was floored. They have the best taste.
#5: I got the most amazing love notes and gifts.
Lorén handcrafted an adorable card.
Eleanor bought us the cutest frame and hooked it up with a Target gift card. (I contemplated not telling Ryan about the gift card and instead spending it on clothes, but thought better of it for the sake of my conscience.)
Ruth nabbed the silverware we picked out, as well as the rice cooker and some dishes we registered for. LOVE.
Hillary bought us a shiny red coffee maker!! Joy! Our previous coffee maker cost $15 6 years ago and only made 4 cups at a time. No bueno.
#6: All my favorite people were there.
College friends. High school friends. Middle school friends. All my loves in one place!
#7: There were games!
The first game was the Newlywed Game, in which I had to answer questions that Ryan had answered via email a few nights before to see if our answers matched. For every wrong answer, I had to chew a piece of bubble gum. Let's just say I ended up with a lot of gum in my mouth thanks to the judges, WHO WERE BIASED AND JUST WANTED TO EMBARRASS ME. I know my fiancé. I DO.
Another game was wedding pictionary, in which shit frankly got real.
I didn't know my friends were so competitive!!
A couple of them in particular got a lil feisty over Team Kara's big win.
And there were just a couple sore losers ;)
#8: All my beautiful bridal party came!
Their awesomeness is evident in the above photograph, in which 2/4 of them were able to look so stunning while chewing that awful radioactive green gum.
The first photo of all of us together <3
#9: It was fun to be a liiiiiitle bit of a princess, just for a couple of hours :)
The girls started making my bowquet, which I'll add to after the other showers.
And finally...
#10: Love was in the air.
I'm not good at being the center of attention, but the night felt festive, fun and easy going. I felt immensely special, and not to get all drippy on you or anything, but I was truly touched by the hard work my girls put into making the night special for me. I've attended two of my guests' weddings and been a bridesmaid in one, and I can't wait until the day I can help make the others' weddings just as special as they've worked to make mine. I LOVE YOU GUYS. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
And thank you for letting me share this with you, too. I love my bloggies <3

everything looked so cute and fun and those baked goods...wow!
ReplyDeleteP.S. your outfit is adorable!
You look so happy! :) I love the flowers and use of lemon slices in the decorations.
ReplyDeleteI love the gum game idea!!! We did a video version to see if my fiance knew me! The guests guessed how many he would get right and the prize went to the person who guessed the right #. There was also a scorpion sucker for the person who guessed the least! Bridal showers are GREAT!

ReplyDeleteCollective "awwww!!". So cute, you are literally GLOWING in all of these pictures, like you are smiling as much as you can. I love these. I know some people complain about Bridal showers, baby showers, etc. But I always think they're so fun. Such a treat to hang out like this and make someone you love feel so special. I bet it was great having all of your 'Maids together for the first time. And they moved in the day before?!??!?!?!?! That blows my mind. How cute Kara!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a lot of fun. Have you told us, your bloggies, which of your engagement photos you chose for your Save the Date card? I was hoping I didn't miss that post, there were so many cool ones it would be a tough choice.
