Things I'm obsessed with lately

I haven't done a "Things I'm obsessed with lately" post in awhile, so here are a few of the things I can't stop swooning over these days!

About once a year, I get a bug to purchase a new handbag. I've learned over the years that the impulse-buy handbag never lasts because chances are, if you pay $20 for a purse then stuff it full of heavy things, it will inevitably fall apart. So over the course of several days, I scoured the interwebz for a good, high-quality black leather handbag. And I landed on Fossil.  (I always land on Fossil.) This bag is the perfect size, very versatile and can be dressed up or dressed down. I don't switch out my handbag a lot, so having a transitional bag is a must for me.

Shutter Island.
Okay, so I know I'm about 3 years late on this one, but Ryan and I watched Shutter Island the other night (first viewing for me) and I LOVED IT. Mental institution? Insanity? Seriously mentally ill people? LEONARDO DI CAPRIO? Sign. It. Up.

Fresh citrus.
It's citrus season in AZ, and we have an abundance of many delicious things in our little apartment thanks to coworkers and family with lots of fruit to give away. We have ruby red grapefruit (yummers with Sweet n Low or Truvia!), tons of lemons, oranges and tangelos. Oranges are my favorite favorite favorite fruit. I could eat then all day long - and that's exactly what I've been doing! At least 3 a day. Keeps the doctor away, right?

MAC Shy Girl lipstick and Peachykeen blush.
I've slowly added some high-end makeup products to my collection over the past year, starting with the Naked palette from Urban Decay. I got NARS Orgasm blush as a gift for Christmas 2010 and it is just now running low, so I replaced it with MAC's Peachykeen. I've also been lusting over MAC lipsticks for several months and have been looking for a really nice neutral with lasting power, and Shy Girl was the answer to that! I'm happy with the investment and I like that MAC does a recycle program - exchange 6 empties for a free lipstick.

Chopped on the Food Network and Project Runway All Stars
There are few shows that I get REALLY excited to watch every week and these are two of my current favorites. I usually Tivo PR and find myself looking forward to a spare hour on Fridays or Saturdays when I can get caught up. I'm rooting for Austin all the way!!! …Mondo as a close second :)

  2. i still want to see shutter island- i haven't seen it yet though a friend blew the ending for me (the nerve!), but I still do want to see it.

glad you found a bag! i have the same thought process about shoes... whenever I buy cheap shoes they last about a minute. Better quality is crucial.

love the beer and movie- ahhh, heaven.

    1. Someone totally told me the ending before I saw it too but I still absolutely loved it! It's really really great.

  3. I'm obsessed with Yoga lately...apparently the last couple of years blew out my carry-the-world-on-my-shoulders tire and my mind went blank. Luckily I found new inspiration in food, my Focus (so much fun to drive), photography (been 11 years since I picked up a camera for fun), writing like a mad woman, and painting. I'm determined to make my life awesome :) Thanks for sharing yours too!

  4. shutter island = mind blown. i don't do well with scary movies and christian had to keep me from covering my eyes for half of it. soooo good. lately i've been obsessed with being outside. i know we'll be living in hades in a mere month or two (which is WAY better than the cold, don't get me wrong) so i'm soaking up this 70s/80s situation. i'm hoping well get our yard projects done before the heat descends.

    1. I don't go scary movies either, yikes! I loved Shutter Island though because I find psychos less frightening and more intriguing, thanks to my job :)

You're so right - this weather is swoonworthy. Ahhhh.

  5. Today...I'm obsessed with Ray-Bans, getting the sprinkler watermarks buffed out off my car, the 4 day weekend I have stretched out in front of me, getting my spring plant situation taken care of on my porch and patio, planting something pretty and heat-tolerant in my strawberry jar, getting back to the book I'm reading, Cutting for Stone, getting some good shots this weekend, waiting for the cool camera strap I ordered to arrive...

    1. Holy cow, woman, that is impressive! 4 day weekend? How did you swing that?

Can't wait to see what you drum up for the strawberry jar - loved the cactus idea! Maybe tiny tiny cactuses?
