Once upon a time, a besotted boy and girl adopted an even more besotted puppy from the humane society and took her home after a trip to In N Out.
On April 30, that puppy turned 4!
We had a rough first week as puppy parents. She was so afraid of the pool in the backyard where we lived at the time that she wouldn't go potty in the backyard, but we thought it was because her hoo hoo was broken. (It wasn't.)
Later, we would realize that we had no idea that her legs got wobbly and stopped working when she felt sick to her stomach. This puppy mama would convince herself that she was having a seizure and was gonna die immediately.
Even later, we didn't know that she'd fling herself upon a dead baby bird and rub its foul stench all over herself.
There were basically a lot of things we didn't know about having a dog and we're still learning every single day. I know now that she's afraid of sprinklers, so we don't take her to the courtyard when it's being watered. I know now that her feet hurt when we walk her across he black asphalt so we carry her instead. I know now that she'd do anything - anything - for an apple core, a baby carrot or a fingerful of peanut butter.

Happy birthday baby bear, we love you forever.

oh she is just SO CUTE, happy birthday to her! I love that I went back and read your Eva stories awhile ago- so I got to hear all about your trials with her right in the beginning. So cute with all her little quirks- that's what makes dogs the best!
