Invisalign update

Once upon a time, my teeth were like this:

Kara + Robert + funky juice = strange photobooth shots

Crooked, crooked, crooked. Look at the bottom ones!! Ugh.

Now, about 6 months into my Invisalign treatment, they look like this:

Invisalign has been so exciting for me. I had braces as a teenager and a whole plethora of dental issues in my childhood (almost all of my teeth had to be pulled, two oral surgeries, etc), so my teeth have always been somewhat of a panic issue. 

I switch Invisalign trays every two weeks and I see a difference every single day. I'll be done with my bottoms soon and I have only a few months left on the top. It's been quite an experience. Because my bottom teeth have moved a lot, quickly, they are LOOSE right now. Yes, you read that correctly, loose. Not fall-out-I'm-10-years-old loose, but wobbly. After a panicky freakout, a voice mail to my dentist and a phone call to my bestie in dental school, I now understand that this is normal (because the teeth are MOVING, for god's sakes) and I will not soon be a toothless hillbilly. 

...I hope.

Thanks for letting me share a lot of obnoxious photos of my teeth with you - when I'm done with the entire treatment, I promise I'll do a legit "after" post. My dentist took a lot of detailed "before" photos, so maybe I'll ask them for some of those too. A couple of you have tweeted or asked me about Invisalign.
